As it backs onto Sixteen Mile Creek, it is under the jurisdiction of Conservation Halton.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">While the land was originally heavily treed at the time of settlement, the land was cleared and in the late 1800s a radial bridge was built just south of the current parkette across the river.\u00a0 <span class=\"style_3\">Read <\/span><a title=\"http:\/\/images.oakville.halinet.on.ca\/59152\/data?n=1\" href=\"http:\/\/images.oakville.halinet.on.ca\/59152\/data?n=1\">a reminiscence of the bridge and school<\/a><span class=\"style_3\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"font-size: 14px;\">This bridge was demolished in 1950s. At this point in time, the <\/span><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1307 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/oakvillehort.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Anderson-Parkette-Histical-photo-300x189.png\" alt=\"Anderson Parkette Histical photo\" width=\"336\" height=\"218\" \/><\/span><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"font-size: 14px;\">parkette was a construction site beside a residential home.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span class=\"style_3\">Rebecca Street was connected to Randall Street with the Rebecca<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span class=\"style_3\"> Bridge officially opened in 1961 and subsequently named by then <\/span><a title=\"http:\/\/images.oakville.halinet.on.ca\/14293\/data?n=2\" href=\"http:\/\/images.oakville.halinet.on.ca\/14293\/data?n=2\">Mayor William Anderson<\/a><span class=\"style_3\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1309 size-full alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/oakvillehort.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Anderson-Parkette-New-bridge.png\" alt=\"Anderson Parkette New bridge\" width=\"288\" height=\"226\" \/>Sometime after the bridge construction was completed, the Oakville Horticultural Societydecided to create a public garden on the site of the grassed parkette beside the bridge entrance. Benches were dedicated and the garden and parkette was carefully tended by volunteers from OHS and members of the community.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"font-size: 14px;\">With road repairs and removal of water scheduled for 2011, it was time for the site to have a make over.
